UAE is today one of the most developed countries in the world where the advancement of technology is visible through the infrastructure and luxurious lifestyle but UAE was not always this developed and life was not this luxurious. People used to live a simple life.
UAE was a desert where people used to live in small houses and tents, the streets were narrow, the mode of transportation was mainly camels and horses because there were no roads, food used to date from the date trees, education was limited as there were very few schools, colleges, and universities which was a big problem at that time, only male teachers were allowed to teach in the schools because females were not allowed to get out of the house to earn. As schools, hospitals and medical treatments were also limited and people had to travel to other countries such as India to get them treated.
Before the oil was discovered in the UAE people earned their living by fishing, pearl diving, and working at the farms of date palm trees. UAE started transforming slowly and gradually after the oil was discovered. Surveys for oil were carried out since the 1930s but it was 1958 when oil was first discovered in the Persian Gulf under the old pealing bed. Oil was then traded and the revenues generated from oil trades were used in the construction. Oil revenues increased over time and a large construction project was started by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan which included hospitals, schools, roads, and houses.
UAE was not even considered a country in the 1960s and only got its independence from the British rule on December 2 1971 and six of seven emirates entered the union of UAE, the seventh joined later on 10th January 1972.
It was in the last five decades the UAE got on its feet and turned itself into a country we see today. Oil discovery changed the course of the country. Soon the oil reserves became so grand that made UAE self-sufficient in terms of natural resources. Their export revenues kept on increasing and the construction was booming.
UAE spends billions on its transformation and became what it is today. According to the information provided by Assignment Help in Abu Dhabi, UAE has a 5.6% oil share in the global market with Abu Dhabi being the biggest provider of oil for the country. UAE is home to some of the most amazing infrastructure in the world with Dubai having the world’s talent building. Due to the development of the UAE, the tourism industry flourished and became a sector that holds a big part in the country’s revenue.
UAE is today completely opposite of what it used to be. Instead of camels and horses, people in Dubai now use luxury cars to travel, buildings have taken over the barren deserts, small houses are have now become big and extravagant, instead of a few schools, UAE now hosts international school branches.
UAE was once a place no one would want to visit but is now transformed into a tourist destination and a vacation spot. The UAE now has a GDP of $354 billion and is one of the biggest economies in the world. The UAE is not relying on oil reserves only and has other modes for generating revenues.
